What you get

  • 2 × 445W TOPCon N-type panels (bifacial, glass-glass)
  • 1 × APsystems EZ1-M 800W microinverter
  • UK-made ground mounting stand
  • 4m AC connection cable and 2m DC extension cables

Concrete blocks or other ballast aren't in the box.

Where it goes

Lay out a sunny strip about 3.7m long and 1.2m deep. The edge of a lawn or the back of a patio is ideal. It's a ground kit only: not for walls, roofs or balconies.

The stand is held down with concrete blocks. They aren't in the box, so buy them locally. Each block should be at least 18kg. Use 2 if gusts can top 40mph, 5 over 60mph and 10 over 80mph.

Keep it away from a wall that's the boundary with next door.

Before you order

Can you tick all of these? If not, ask us first.

  • A sunny spot about 3.7m by 1.2m, on level ground.
  • A weatherproof outdoor socket within reach of the 4m cable. No extension leads or adaptors.
  • Modern RCD protection in your fuse box. Not sure? An electrician can check it, or fit the outdoor socket.
  • Renting, or leasehold? Get written permission from your landlord or freeholder first.
  • Tell your home insurer you've got it.
  • Register it free at myplugin.solar before you first switch it on.
  • One kit per home. Never use it with a home battery.

Questions about the Medium kit

It says 890W. Why only 800W into my home?

The microinverter sends at most 799VA into your home. That's the plug-in limit. The extra panel power helps it reach that limit for more of the day, especially when it's cloudy.

Can two of us set it up?

Yes. The box weighs 74kg, so carry it together. Then it's the stand, the two panels and the blocks. It's an afternoon's job for two.

Can I take it with me when I move?

Yes. Nothing is fixed to the house. Just update your registration at myplugin.solar at your new address.

Do I need to register it?

Yes. It's free at myplugin.solar and takes a few minutes. Do it before you first switch on.

Can I have two kits?

No. The rules allow one plug-in kit per home.
