What you get

  • 1 × 460W TOPCon N-type panel (bifacial, glass-glass)
  • 1 × APsystems EZ1-M 800W microinverter
  • Ground mounting stand, attached (made in the UK)
  • 4m AC connection cable

Concrete blocks or other ballast aren't in the box.

Where it goes

Put it on level ground that gets the sun. A patio, a gravel corner or a small lawn all work. It's a ground kit only, so it doesn't go on walls, roofs or balconies.

The stand is held down with concrete blocks. They aren't in the box, so buy them locally. Each block should be at least 18kg. Use 2 if gusts can top 40mph, 5 over 60mph and 10 over 80mph.

Keep it away from a wall that's the boundary with next door.

Before you order

Can you tick all of these? If not, ask us first.

  • A sunny spot about 1.9m by 1.2m, on level ground.
  • A weatherproof outdoor socket within reach of the 4m cable. No extension leads or adaptors.
  • Modern RCD protection in your fuse box. Not sure? An electrician can check it, or fit the outdoor socket.
  • Renting, or leasehold? Get written permission from your landlord or freeholder first.
  • Tell your home insurer you've got it.
  • Register it free at myplugin.solar before you first switch it on.
  • One kit per home. Never use it with a home battery.

Questions about the Small kit

Is one panel enough?

It's a good start. One panel makes less than our bigger kits, but it needs the least space and it's the easiest to set up.

How much power goes into my home?

Whatever the panel makes, up to its 460W. The microinverter could pass up to 800W (799VA), so here the panel sets the limit.

I rent. Can I have one?

Often, yes. It sits on the ground, so there's no drilling. Ask your landlord for written permission first.

Do I need to register it?

Yes. It's free at myplugin.solar and takes a few minutes. Do it before you first switch on.

Can I have two kits?

No. The rules allow one plug-in kit per home.
