No drilling needed
All three kits sit on a stand on the ground. A lawn, a patio or a gravel area is fine. Concrete blocks hold the stand down, so nothing is screwed into your house or your patio.
That makes them a good fit if you rent. Ask your landlord first and get a yes in writing. When you move, take the kit with you.
Keep the kit away from a wall that's the boundary with next door, and never put it on a balcony.
Before you order
Tick these off first. If one is a problem, ask us.
- A sunny, level spot big enough for your kit.
- A weatherproof outdoor socket within reach of the 4m cable. No extension leads or adaptors.
- Modern RCD protection in your fuse box. An electrician can check it.
- Written permission from your landlord or freeholder, if you rent or you're leasehold.
- A quick word with your home insurer.
- Register the kit free at myplugin.solar before you first switch it on.
- One kit per home, and never with a home battery.

What's the difference between the sizes?
The number and size of panels. Small has one panel, Medium has two, and Large has two big ones. More panel power means more power on cloudy days and in the mornings and evenings.
Why does every kit say up to 800W?
That's the most a plug-in kit can send into your home at once (799VA). Bigger kits reach it for more of the day.
How much do they cost?
